Frequently asked questions.
1. What can I expect in my first session?
Your first session is a gentle introduction where we explore what’s bringing you to counselling and what you hope to work on. You don’t need to prepare anything. We’ll go at your pace, and you’re welcome to ask questions at any time. It’s simply a space to get to know each other and see if we’re a good fit.
2. How long is a session?
Sessions typically last 50 minutes.
3. How often should I attend counselling?
Most clients start with weekly sessions to build momentum, but we can adjust to fortnightly depending on your needs, schedule, and goals. We’ll decide this together.
4. Do you offer online counselling?
Yes. I offer confidential online sessions via a secure video platform. Many clients find them just as effective as in-person sessions and appreciate the flexibility.
5. How many sessions will I need?
Every client is different. Some people come for a few sessions to focus on a specific issue; others choose longer-term support. You’re never locked in; we review your progress regularly and decide together what you need.
6. What issues can you help with?
I support clients with a wide range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, low mood, relationship issues, boundaries, self-esteem, trauma, grief, and life transitions. If you’re unsure whether counselling can help, feel free to reach out.
7. What if I feel nervous about starting counselling?
It’s completely normal to feel nervous — many people do. My role is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can share at your own pace. You don’t have to have the “right words” or a clear plan; we figure things out together.
